About me

I’m Kelly Wiggains. I spend my days as a wife, mom, teacher, writer, organizer (by default), and home keeper. My husband and I live a nomadic life within the boundaries of Texas, where he has been a band director for the past decade. Our three kids spend their days with me – all day long. We read and cook and play and fight and make a big mess. I fight tooth and nail to keep our life peaceful and simple – which sometimes has its complications.

In my former life, I taught high school English, grading essays and assigning novels and using words like syntax, alliteration, symbolism, and dangling participle. Sometimes I miss those days. I created this space to talk to moms about motherhood, but to also give us a space to talk like adults – with legal addictive stimulants (coffee and chocolate) and intelligent conversations about good books, writing, education, a smattering of parenting, and organizing hacks for the naturally unorganized.

Dear Kelly. Thank you very much for your blog. I’m sitting here with my friend in the High Peak of Derbyshire UK talking about how blogging works. I’ve just started mine !! He suggested I write and say hello. So…. “hello Kelly”.
